Christmas at the Rectory - 12/25/08
Christ IS Born! Glorify Him!What a gift indeed for Father Adam & family to be able to welcome the parish family into their home on Christmas Day. There was plenty of food and drink and everyone had a good time. No one seemed to be in a hurry to leave and all seemed to be quite at ease. The Sextons look forward to next year's Christmas gathering.
Father and family come from Virginia and have made the North their home. As fond as they are of northern fare, they took great pleasure in showing the parish a Virgina Christmas, complete with a whole salted Virgina ham. Also, Father Adam introduced 'pigs in blankets', Southern Style (hotdogs wrapped in dough and baked). The ladies were eager to try out 'Gramma Georgie's Good Good Good Chocolate Cherry Cake', a Winchester favorite and an original recipe of Matushka's paternal grandmother.
This was truly a wonderful get together.

One Man's Trash is Another Man's Treasure! - 12/13/08
We held our annual Fall Rummage Sale on Friday & Saturday 12/12 and 12/13. With an amazing amount of setup, cleanup and preparation, this modest rummage Sale in our Church Parlors netted over a thousand dollars for the Church. We look forward to our VERY BIG Rummage Sale in the late spring, to be held at St. John's parish picnic grounds.(9 images)
A'pinchin' we will go! - 11/24/08
They say that many hands make light work.....well, in our case, many fingers make light work. What a good time we have with this time honored and cherished tradition of gathering around the pinching tables to crank out the area's BEST pierohies. Over the course of 4 days we managed to produce and sell over 7 thousand of them thanks to the help of parishioners, friends and neighbors. Glory be to God for a successful pierohie project.(10 images)
Welcome to the World Gabriel Sexton - 11/22/08
Fr. Adam, Matushka Angelina and their 6 children receive a new addition to the clan! Gabriel Panagiotis Sexton was born on Saturday morning in Wilkes Barre, PA. 9lbs and fair haired. Mommy and baby came home Sunday afternoon and are resting comfortably. What a miracle! It is just as impressive on the 7th child as it was on the 1st. We glorify God for His most sacred gift of life.(14 images)

Many Years +John and Teresa Klos - 10/12/08
St. John's Oldest member, Teresa Klos, was presented with the icon of the Wedding at Cana. A long tradition at St. John's, we give a copy of this icon to those who celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary. Teresa and John had been married for over 60 years when he reposed in March of 2008. Since he was not there to receive it with her, the parish also presented Teresa with an icon of St. John the Baptist in memory of John. Teresa and John's 3 daughters, Joan, Marian, and Susan, were all present for this event. May John's memory be eternal and may He grant Teresa and her daughters many years!(3 images)
